Quarterly Meeting of the Harvard Angels

The Harvard Angels Meet in the Peninsula for the first time!
Some terrific companies have been started – and outstanding investment opportunities found – even in challenging economic times. Come take a look at some promising ventures with your classmates as part of the "Harvard Angels".
The Harvard Angels will meet to hear presentations from 3 startups (with a preference for companies started by HBS and Harvard alumni entrepreneurs) that can benefit from our advice and/or investment as they seek early stage investors.
The format is simple: 15 minutes of presentation, 10 minutes Q&A, and 5 minutes of feedback for the entrepreneurs. Companies to be announced.
Note that to participate in a deal you must be an Accredited Investor. Attendees to the meeting are welcome to join whether or not they have made early stage investments previously.

Cultural Dialogues: Harvard Grad Sara Houghteling (AB '99), Author of Pictures At An Exhibition

Drawn from copious research on wartime France, the early 20th century Parisian art scene and looting by the Nazi party, Ms. Houghteling’s novel is luminous with historical detail. The New York Times Book Review gave it a glowing assessment. Ms. Houghteling is a Harvard graduate and was the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship to Paris, a John Steinbeck Fellowship and first prize in the Hopwood Award for novels.

The HCSV is pleased to present the Bella Trio (http://www.bellatrio.org/bios/), performing and discussing works by Dvorak, Piazzolla and Debussy, at a Los Altos home designed by the noted modernist architect Richard Neutra.
Share the passion of these talented San Francisco-based musicians in the intimate setting of a House Concert, the traditional venue in which chamber music was meant to be performed and enjoyed.

Naval War College National Symposium: "Surges and Strategy- What's Next?"

Join us as the Naval War College Foundation presents presentations and dialog with Naval War College Faculty Members as they contemplate today's national security issues. Everyone with a sincere interest in an in-depth, insider look at national security issues – far beyond what you may learn from the NY Times or other media.
DATE & TIME: The Symposium runs both Saturday & Sunday, March 27-28, 2010: 7AM – 4:30PM each day. Continental Breakfast included . The program begins at 8:15AM.

Harvard Bio: Tim graduated from Harvard College in 1975 with a B.A. cum laude in Classics. His honors thesis explored the tension between mysticism and logic in Plato's dialogues.
Professional Bio: Tim O'Reilly is the founder and CEO of O'Reilly Media, Inc., thought by many to be the best computer book publisher in the world. In addition to Foo Camps ("Friends of O'Reilly" Camps, which gave rise to the "un-conference" movement), O'Reilly Media also hosts conferences on technology topics, including the Web 2.0 Summit, the Web 2.0 Expo, the O'Reilly Open Source Convention, the Gov 2.0 Summit, and the Gov 2.0 Expo. Tim's blog, the O'Reilly Radar, "watches the alpha geeks" to determine emerging technology trends, and serves as a platform for advocacy about issues of importance to the technical community.
